| P023400 | Turbocharger/Supercharger "A" Overboost Condition | Either of the following conditions is met (1 trip detection logic):
·
Boost pressure exceeds the threshold value (calculated from turbocharger speed upper limit value). ·
Boost pressure exceeds the threshold value (calculated from compressor downstream temperature upper limit value). |
·
Turbocharger sub-assembly ·
Vacuum regulating valve assembly ·
No. 1 turbo pressure sensor ·

ECM |
Does not come on | DTC stored | SAE Code: P0234 |
If the boost pressure exceeds the threshold value (calculated from turbocharger speed upper limit value or compressor downstream temperature upper limit value), there may be a malfunction in the turbocharger system. In this case, the ECM stores this DTC.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or higher [A].
Turn the GTS on.
Accelerate to 50 km/h (31 mph) or more with the accelerator pedal fully depressed [B].
When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [C].
Read the pending DTCs.
If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
Input the DTC: P023400.
Check the DTC judgment result.

If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE, perform steps [B] through [C] again.

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.
Read Freeze Frame Data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

Using the following table, determine the normal atmospheric pressure for the current altitude and temperature.
Standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 101 kPa(abs) (15 psi(abs)).
For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, atmospheric pressure drops by approximately 1 kPa (0.15 psi). This varies depending on the weather.
Compare the value of Atmospheric Pressure with the normal atmospheric pressure in the table.
