SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  AIRBAG SYSTEM(for Type C)  B163A  Side Airbag Sensor Assembly No.2 (LH)  


DESCRIPTION

The side collision sensor LH circuit consists of the airbag sensor assembly and No. 1 side airbag sensor LH.

The No. 1 side airbag sensor LH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the airbag sensor assembly to determine if the SRS should be deployed.

DTC B163A are stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 1 side airbag sensor LH or airbag sensor assembly.

PROCEDURE

1.CHECK NO. 1 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH

*1 No. 1 Side Airbag Sensor RH
*2 Airbag Sensor Assembly


Turn the engine switch off.


b.

Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.


c.

Interchange the No. 1 side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.


d.

Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.


e.

Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.


f.

Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

g.

Turn the engine switch off.


h.

Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

Check for DTCs.

j.

Turn the engine switch off.


k.

Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.


l.

Return the No. 1 side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.



DTC B163A is output

REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
