Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

·

When storing the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

·

If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.



a.

Check that the ignition switch is off.


b.

Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
·

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

·

If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.




c.

Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Remove the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH deployment portion in the following order.

i.

Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 5 pins from the 4 clips and roof side inner garnish clip.


ii.

Using 2 thin bladed screwdrivers, detach the claw and remove the 4 clips and roof side inner garnish clip together with the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH deployment portion.



e.

Remove the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH inflator in the following order.

CAUTION:

The bolt must not be reused.

Remove the bolt and rear side of the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH deployment portion.


ii.

Remove the 2 bolts.


iii.

Detach the hook to remove the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH inflator.



f.

When reusing the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH:

CAUTION:

Do not reuse the clip and roof side inner garnish clip.

Using 2 screwdrivers, detach the claw of 6 clips and separate the 6 clips from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

Separate the 6 clips and rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH from the vehicle body as a unit.



g.

Remove the 9 bolts.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse the bolts and clip.

Detach the clip.


i.

While holding the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH, detach the clip and the hooks, and remove the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH.


j.

When reusing the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH:

i.

Detach the guide, claw and remove the 7 clips and curtain shield airbag clip spacer from the rear curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse the clip.

CAUTION:

Do not reuse the clip and roof side inner garnish clip.
