HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING  AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM(for Gasoline Model)  Weak Blower Output

DESCRIPTION

If the blower airflow volume is weak regardless of the integration control and panel assembly being normal, the following causes are possible.

Malfunction Status Factor
·

Blower airflow volume is continuously weak

·

Blower airflow volume is sometimes weak

·

Communication malfunction between air conditioning amplifier assembly and blower with fan motor sub-assembly

·

Air conditioning amplifier assembly malfunction

·

Blower with fan motor sub-assembly malfunction

·

Clean air filter is clogging

·

Evaporator or heater core fin clogging

·

ECO drive mode function (air flow volume is restricted due to ECO drive mode being selected)

·

Aspirator dropped

PROCEDURE

1.CHECK BLOWER FAN OPERATION
a.

Prepare the vehicle according to the table below in manual mode.

Blower Switch Condition
LO → HI
·

Temperature setting: Max COLD

·

Mode switch: FACE

·

A/C switch: Off

OK:

Airflow volume is changed.

2.CHECK ECO DRIVE MODE OPERATION
a.

Confirm setup of the ECO drive mode and turn it off if it is on.

HINT:
·

When ECO drive mode is on, the air conditioning amplifier assembly ensures a minimum level of air conditioning control based on certain conditions, thereby contributing to improved fuel efficiency. Accordingly, explain to customers that the air volume will be weaker in these situations.

Control Control Summary
Airflow Control Automatically switches the air inlet port to the internal air circulation mode when the outside air temperature is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature and reduces the power consumption.
Air Inlet Control Sets the blower level in AUTO mode lower than normal, and suppresses the power consumption.

·

If integration control and panel assembly (ECO switch) is malfunctioning, perform diagnosis on the ECO switch circuit.
