MAINTENANCE GENERAL MAINTENANCE ENGINE

Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.
INSPECT DRIVE BELT
Inspect the drive belt.
REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER
Replace the engine oil and oil filter.
INSPECT COOLING AND HEATER SYSTEM
Check that the radiator, condenser and/or intercooler is not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects, and clean them if necessary. Also check the hose connection for the installation condition, corrosion, etc.
INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT
Inspect the engine coolant.
1GD-FTV, for Water Cooled Type Intercooler:
REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT
Replace the engine coolant.
1GD-FTV, for Water Cooled Type Intercooler:
INSPECT ENGINE OIL COOLER HOSES AND CONNECTIONS (for 7GR-FKS)
Check the oil cooler hoses for cracks, leakage, loose connections and deformation.
INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS
Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.
REPLACE SPARK PLUGS
Replace the spark plugs.

INSPECT BATTERY
Inspect the battery.
INSPECT WATER SEDIMENT ACCUMULATOR
Inspect the water sediment accumulator.
REPLACE FUEL FILTER (for 7GR-FKS)
ADD FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
For the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Bolivia, Guyana, Aruba, Curacao, Suriname, Saint Martin, Egypt, Iraq, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Oman, Mongolia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, and the Cook Islands only.
Add fuel injector cleaner to the fuel tank.
INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT
Remove the air cleaner filter element.
Check that the air cleaner filter element is not excessively dirty.
If the air cleaner filter element is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element.
If cleaning the air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.
Reinstall the air cleaner filter element.
INSPECT AIR FLOW METER (for 1GD-FTV)
Blow air to the sensor intermittently for about 30 seconds.
INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET
Check the fuel tank cap gasket.
INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS
Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.
Check for tank band looseness or deformation.
INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER
Inspect the charcoal canister.
