SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  REMOVAL  


CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during curtain shield airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

HINT:

When the cable is disconnected / reconnected to the battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

Learning completes when vehicle is driven (for HV Model)

After turning the ignition switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

Deployment Side


When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.


NOTICE:

When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly, have assistants hold it to prevent it from bending.


a.

Check that the ignition switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) is off.


b.

Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
for NR Series:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.


except NR Series:
·

Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.




c.

for M20A-FKS, M20E-FKS, M20G-FXS:

i.

Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Using a needle nose pliers No. 2 or equivalent, remove the 5 pins from the 3 clips (A) and 2 clips (B).

NOTICE:

Do not damage the pins.

Using 2 thin screwdrivers, disengage the 2 claws of each clip (A) and (B), and separate the 3 clips (A) and 2 clips (B) from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

Separate the 3 clips (A), 2 clips (B) and curtain shield airbag assembly from the vehicle body as a unit.



iv.

Disengage the 3 clips (C).


v.

While holding the curtain shield airbag assembly, remove the 7 bolts and curtain shield airbag assembly.


vi.

Remove the 3 clips (A) and 2 clips (B) from the curtain shield airbag assembly.



d.

for M20C-FKS, M20F-FXS:

i.

Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Using 2 thin screwdrivers, disengage the 2 claws of each clip (A) and (B), and separate the 3 clips (A) and 2 clips (B) from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

Separate the 3 clips (A), 2 clips (B) and curtain shield airbag assembly from the vehicle body as a unit.



iv.

Disengage the 4 clips (C).


v.

While holding the curtain shield airbag assembly, remove the 7 bolts and curtain shield airbag assembly.


vi.

Remove the 3 clips (A) and 2 clips (B) from the curtain shield airbag assembly.



e.

for M15C-FKS, 8ZR-FXE GTMC Made, NR Series:

i.

Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Using 2 thin screwdrivers, disengage the 2 claws of each clip (A) and (B), and separate the 3 clips (A) and clip (B) from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

Separate the 3 clips (A), clip (B) and curtain shield airbag assembly from the vehicle body as a unit.



iv.

Disengage the 2 clips (C).


v.

While holding the curtain shield airbag assembly, remove the 7 bolts and curtain shield airbag assembly.


vi.

Remove the 3 clips (A) and clip (B) from the curtain shield airbag assembly.



f.

for M15B-FKS, 8ZR-FXE TFTM Made:

i.

Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Remove the 2 clips (A) and 2 clips (B) from the curtain shield airbag assembly.
