NR Series ENGINE CONTROL  SFI SYSTEM  P060604  Control Module Processor System Internal Failure  P060629  Control Module Processor Signal Invalid  P060647  Control Module Processor Watchdog/Safety MCU Failure

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM continuously monitors its main and sub CPUs. This self-check ensures that the ECM is functioning properly. If outputs from these CPUs are different and deviate from the standard, the ECM will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area MIL Memory Note
P060604 Control Module Processor System Internal Failure ECM main CPU malfunction (1 trip detection logic) ECM Comes on DTC stored SAE Code: P0606
P060629 Control Module Processor Signal Invalid ECM main CPU malfunction (1 trip detection logic) ECM Comes on DTC stored SAE Code: P0606
P060647 Control Module Processor Watchdog/Safety MCU Failure ECM sub CPU malfunction (1 trip detection logic) ECM Comes on DTC stored SAE Code: P0606

HINT:
·

After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

Click hereEngine / Hybrid System>NR Series (ENGINE CONTROL)>SFI SYSTEM>DTC CHECK / CLEAR

·

When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the "CLEAR PERMANENT DTC" procedure.

Click hereEngine / Hybrid System>NR Series (ENGINE CONTROL)>SFI SYSTEM>DTC CHECK / CLEAR

1.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

3.

Turn the GTS on.

4.

Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

5.

Turn the GTS off.

6.

Turn the ignition switch off.

7.

Disconnect the GTS.

8.

Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait for 1 minute.

9.

Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

10.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

11.

Turn the ignition switch to ON [A].

12.

Turn the GTS on.

13.

Wait for 1 second or more [B].

14.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [C].

15.

Read the pending DTCs.

HINT:
·

If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

·

If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

16.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

17.

Input the DTC: P060604, P060629 or P060647.

18.

Check the DTC judgment result.

GTS Display Description
NORMAL
·

DTC judgment completed

·

System normal

ABNORMAL
·

DTC judgment completed

·

System abnormal

INCOMPLETE
·

DTC judgment not completed

·

Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

HINT:
·

If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

·

If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

·

[A] to [C]: Normal judgment procedure.

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

·

When clearing the permanent DTCs, do not disconnect the cable from the battery terminal or attempt to clear the DTCs during this procedure, as doing so will clear the universal trip and normal judgment histories.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal.

Click hereGeneral>SETUP>WHEN DISCONNECTING OR RECONNECTING BATTERY TERMINAL>BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY

HINT:

When disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

Click hereGeneral>SETUP>WHEN DISCONNECTING OR RECONNECTING BATTERY TERMINAL>AUTOMATIC LEARNING CHART

HINT:

Read Freeze Frame Data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as Freeze Frame Data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, Freeze Frame Data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
