STRICT PROHIBITION OF MANUAL EMERGENCY CALL USING EMERGENCY CALL SERVICE
Do not make an emergency call when not in emergency situations. For inspections, use the manual maintenance check.
If the emergency call service is used to connect to the TOYOTA Connect Center when not in an emergency situation, an unnecessary workload will be generated at the TOYOTA Connect Center. This may cause a delayed response by the TOYOTA Connect Center to other emergency calls.
If emergency vehicles are dispatched due to an accidental operation of the emergency call switch, you may be charged or punished according to related laws.
If the emergency call switch is accidentally operated;
If the emergency call switch is accidentally operated, contact the TOYOTA Connect Center to tell them that the call was made by mistake.
An emergency call cannot be halted or finished from the vehicle. Only the TOYOTA Connect Center can halt or finish the call.
If the TOYOTA Connect Center cannot be informed that the call was made by mistake, the center will report to authorities, emergency facilities and dealerships in compliance with its agreements. As a result, emergency vehicles may be dispatched.
PRECAUTION FOR TOYOTA CONNECT
When replacing the telematics transceiver, make sure to replace it with a new one.
If any of the following parts are replaced, refer to Initialization of Repair Instruction.
Telematics transceiver
Mobilephone battery
Navigation Receiver Assembly (w/ Navigation System)
Radio and Display Receiver Assembly (w/o Navigation System)
Certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
When replacing the telematics transceiver, it is not necessary to cancel the TOYOTA Connect contract. (If canceled a new TOYOTA Connect contract needs to be created after replacement.)
On this model, the telematics transceiver functions as the TOYOTA Connect device and has the G-BOOK ID.
When troubleshooting symptoms such as when part of the remote service function does not operate normally, first check that there are no third party parts connected to the DLC3. If any such parts are connected to the DLC3, some parts of the remote service function may not operate normally.
Therefore, explain the situation to the customer, remove the parts and turn the engine switch from off to ON before proceeding with troubleshooting.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER (DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE (DCM))
The telematics transceiver uses an LTE (Long Term Evolution) type radio wave signal. The radio wave signals and communication lines may occasionally be unstable depending on time or location factors. Therefore, network access errors may occur intermittently because of radio wave signal conditions. To determine if there is a problem, it may be necessary to make a judgment based on the frequency of the phenomenon or by making a comparison with a comparable type of cell phone.
With the exception of replacing the mobilephone battery, the telematics transceiver cannot be disassembled (the telematics transceiver case must not be opened). Replace parts.
PRECAUTIONS FOR EMERGENCY CALL SERVICE
Depending on the troubleshooting method, a manual maintenance check may be performed.
Communication charges are not incurred for the manual maintenance check because the telematics transceiver is used for communication (the communication cost is included in the TOYOTA Connect cost).
AUTOMATIC MAINTENANCE CHECK FOR EMERGENCY CALL SERVICE
The emergency call system regularly performs an automatic maintenance check and communication test with the TOYOTA Connect Center so that the emergency call service can always function correctly. There are no operations required to initiate an automatic maintenance check. The automatic maintenance check is performed as follows:
The automatic maintenance check ends 1 to 2 minutes after it starts.
During the automatic maintenance check, a telephone call or network access is not possible using the telematics system. In this case, wait several minutes before trying again.
If communication is interrupted for some reason after the automatic maintenance check has started, the automatic maintenance check will resume the next time the engine switch is turned to on (IG).
There are no communication charges incurred for the manual and automatic maintenance check because the telematics transceiver is used for communication (the communication cost is included in the TOYOTA Connect cost).
IF AN EMERGENCY CALL CANNOT BE MADE
The emergency call service may not be available, or its quality may deteriorate in the following cases. (For details, refer to the terms of service and operation manual for the device.)

If emergency calls cannot be made, use a landline telephone or cellular phone.
ALARM NOTIFICATION FUNCTION
If the theft deterrent system is activated, the TOYOTA Connect Center makes a phone call to the customer.
When servicing the vehicle, make sure that the vehicle does not experience any conditions that could cause a telephone call to be made by a TOYOTA Connect operator.
Before performing inspections or repairs which may activate the alarm notification function, be sure to inform the customer that they may receive a telephone call from a TOYOTA Connect operator.
The alarm notifications can be canceled via the multi-display assembly screen.
PRECAUTION FOR MOBILEPHONE BATTERY
The mobilephone battery is a Lithium-ion type battery and can be charged from the telematics transceiver.
When ACN (Automatic Collision Notification) is performed, the mobilephone battery provides power to the telematics transceiver.
The mobilephone battery must not be replaced while an ACN call is in progress.
When a Manual Emergency Call is made, the mobilephone battery is not used as the power source.
When it is time to replace the mobilephone battery, the emergency call switch red indicator will come on.
