DESCRIPTION

The rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor) is installed on the rear bumper. The clearance warning ECU assembly detects obstacles based on signals received from the rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor). If the rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor) has an open circuit or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

NOTICE:

If DTCs are output after repairs, turn the ignition switch to ON and the TOYOTA parking assist-sensor system on. Then clear the DTCs.

PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT REAR CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (RRC SENSOR)
a.

Remove the rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor).

b.

Inspect the rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor).

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR [RRC SENSOR] - CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY)

REPLACE REAR CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (RRC SENSOR)

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR [RRC SENSOR] - CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY)
a.

Disconnect the f2 rear center ultrasonic sensor (RRC sensor) connector.


b.

Disconnect the N48 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.


c.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
f2-2 (S) - N48-6 (S3) Always Below 1 Ω
f2-1 (E) - N48-7 (E3) Always Below 1 Ω
f2-2 (S) or N48-6 (S3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
f2-1 (E) or N48-7 (E3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
