AC60E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE  AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM(for 7GR-FKS)  P050031  Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" No Signal

DESCRIPTION

The speed sensors detect the wheel speed and send the appropriate signals to the skid control ECU. The skid control ECU converts these wheel speed signals into a 4-pulse signal and outputs it to the ECM via the combination meter assembly. The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of this pulse signal.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM assumes that the vehicle is being driven when the indicated vehicle speed is more than 9 km/h (5.59 mph). If there is no speed signal from the combination meter despite this condition being met, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the speed signal circuit. The ECM then illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

HINT:

After repairs have been completed, clear the DTCs and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

1.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

3.

Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

4.

Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

5.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

6.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 3 seconds or more.

7.

Start the engine.

8.

Drive the vehicle at 9 km/h (5.59 mph) or more for 5 seconds or more.

9.

Stop the vehicle.

10.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Utility / All Readiness.

11.

Input the DTC: P050031.

12.

Check the DTC judgment result.

HINT:
·

If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

·

If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

·

If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern and check the DTC judgment result again.

PROCEDURE

1.READ VALUE USING GTS (VEHICLE SPEED)
a.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

b.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

c.

Turn the GTS on.

d.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Data List / Vehicle Speed.

Powertrain > Transmission > Data List

·

This is the current vehicle speed.

·

The vehicle speed is detected using the wheel speed sensors.

-

There is a delay in when the vehicle speed data is displayed.

Therefore, even if the vehicle speed listed in the freeze frame data is 0 km/h (0 mph), this does not always mean that the malfunction occurred when the vehicle was stopped.
