DESCRIPTION

When the brake pedal is depressed, the stop light switch assembly sends a signal to the ECM. When the ECM receives this signal, it cancels control of vehicle speed by the cruise control system. The fail-safe function operates to enable normal driving even if there is a malfunction in the stop light switch signal circuit. The cancellation condition occurs when voltage is applied to the terminal STP. When the brake pedal is depressed, voltage is applied to the terminal STP of the ECM through the STOP fuse and the stop light switch assembly, and the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the cruise control system.

a.

for 1GD-FTV:

Disconnect the A2 ECM connector.


b.

for 7GR-FKS:

Disconnect the N1 ECM connector.


c.

Disconnect the M1 stop light switch assembly connector.


d.

Disconnect the A28 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.


e.

for Automatic transmission:

Disconnect the N57 shift lock control ECU (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.


f.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance (for 1GD-FTV):
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
A2-12 (ST1-) - M1-3 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
A2-13 (STP) - M1-1 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
A2-12 (ST1-) or M1-3 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
A2-13 (STP) or M1-1 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher


Standard Resistance (for 7GR-FKS):

Connect the N57 shift lock control ECU (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.

Connect the A2 ECM connector.

for 7GR-FKS:

Connect the N1 ECM connector.
