PRECAUTIONS WHEN PERFORMING INSPECTION
Before inspecting the dimmable panoramic roof glass, roof sunshade-linked control, dimmable panoramic roof glass memory/recall control, or jam protection function, make sure that initialization of the roof sunshade has been completed.
The roof sunshade switch and dimmable panoramic roof switch are located in the map light assembly.
INSPECT DIMMABLE PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Operate the roof sunshade switch and move the roof sunshade to the fully open position.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch, and set the dimmable panoramic roof glass to the dimmed state.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch 1 time to change the dimmable panoramic roof glass from dimmed to transparent and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof switch indicator illuminates.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch 1 time to change the dimmable panoramic roof glass from transparent to dimmed and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof switch indicator turns off.
Operate the roof sunshade switch to move the roof sunshade to the half open position.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch 1 time to change the dimmable panoramic roof glass from dimmed to transparent and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof switch indicator illuminates.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch 1 time to change the dimmable panoramic roof glass from transparent to dimmed and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof switch indicator turns off.
INSPECT ROOF SUNSHADE-LINKED CONTROL (for LONG TYPE PANORAMIC FIXED MOONROOF)
Perform this inspection only when performing customization using the GTS, and Customize Setting Item "Front SW Auto Operation" is set to "ON" (the default setting is "ON").
If the roof sunshade switch is operated for less than 0.3 seconds, the system operates in manual mode.
Roof sunshade fully open position
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch for 0.3 seconds or more to start a roof sunshade open operation, and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof glass changes from dimmed to transparent after approximately 3 seconds.
Confirm that the indicator of the dimmable panoramic roof switch illuminates when the roof sunshade is fully open.
Roof sunshade position: Fully open
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch to make the dimmable panoramic roof glass transparent.
Operate the roof sunshade close switch for 0.3 seconds or more, and confirm that the roof sunshade moves to the fully closed position, the dimmable panoramic roof glass changes from transparent to dimmed, and the indicator of the dimmable panoramic roof switch turns off.
INSPECT DIMMABLE PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS MEMORIZE/RECALL CONTROL
Perform this inspection only when performing customization using the GTS, and Customize Setting Item "Light Control Glass Brightness Memory Function" is set to "Enable" (the default setting is "Disable").
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Operate the dimmable panoramic roof switch to change the dimmable panoramic roof glass to transparent.
Turn the ignition switch off and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof glass changes from transparent to dimmed.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and confirm that the dimmable panoramic roof glass changes from dimmed to transparent.
INSPECT JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION (for LONG TYPE PANORAMIC FIXED MOONROOF)
Do not use a part of your body, for example, your hand, to check the jam protection function. Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof by accident while performing this inspection.
If the jam protection function does not operate, perform the initialization procedure for the roof sunshade ECU (sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly).
If a hard object such as the handle of a hammer is used to activate jam protection, the roof sunshade may be deformed or damaged.
The jam protection function operates during both auto and manual operation.
Move the roof sunshade to the fully open position.
Hold a hammer handle sufficiently wrapped with a cloth or other material near the fully closed position.
When the roof sunshade is fully closed by an auto-close operation, check that the hammer handle is not caught, and the roof sunshade moves to the fully open position or stops at a position approximately 218 mm from where the jam protection function operated.
