NR Series COOLING  WATER PUMP  INSTALLATION  


PROCEDURE

Hide 1.INSTALL ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

a.

Install a new water pump gasket to the engine water pump assembly.

HINT:

Be sure to clean the contact surfaces.



b.

Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt (C).

Adhesive:

Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent


Bolt Length:
Item Length
Bolt (A) and (D) 20 mm (0.787 in.)
Bolt (B) and (C) 35 mm (1.38 in.)

Temporarily install the engine water pump assembly to the timing chain cover assembly with the 6 bolts.

NOTICE:

Tighten the bolts within 3 minutes of applying adhesive.

*a 12 mm Union Nut Wrench
*b Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length


Using a 12 mm union nut wrench, tighten the 2 bolts (A).

Torque:
Specified tightening torque : 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

HINT:
·

Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

When using a 12 mm union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 20 mm (0.787 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 18.7 N*m (191 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf)

Tighten the bolt (B), bolt (C) and 2 bolts (D).

Torque:
21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
