DESCRIPTION

The ECM receives a signal from the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) installed to the continuously variable transaxle and determines the output shaft (secondary pulley) speed in order to control the gear ratio.

The transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) detects the continuously variable transaxle output shaft (secondary pulley) speed and sends a signal to the ECM.

No malfunctions are found in the park/neutral position switch assembly

Output shaft speed indicated by the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) is less than 300 rpm for 2 seconds

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM receives a signal from the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) installed to the continuously variable transaxle and determines the output shaft (secondary pulley) speed in order to control the gear ratio.

If the ECM detects no signal from the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) even while the vehicle is moving, it will determine that the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) is malfunctioning, illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.


HINT:
·

After repairs have been completed, clear the DTCs and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

·

When clearing the permanent DTCs, refer to the Clear Permanent DTC procedure.

1.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

3.

Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

4.

Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.

5.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

6.

Start the engine.

7.

Perform the D Position Shift Test inspection in Road Test. [*1]

The normal judgment procedure is used to complete DTC judgment and also used when clearing permanent DTCs.

Stop the vehicle.

9.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Utility / All Readiness.

10.

Input the DTC: P072012, P072014 or P072031.

11.

Check the DTC judgment result.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

Turn the GTS on.

Wave a magnet left and right 5 mm (0.197 in.) or less from the tip of the transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) to output a high/low signal while measuring the current.

NOTICE:

Make sure to wave the magnet during the inspection. The current will not change unless the magnet is moved as shown in the illustration.

Disconnect the C68 transmission revolution sensor (NOUT) connector.

Disconnect the C78 ECM connector.


c.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
