DESCRIPTION

If the front glass frequently fogs up when the air conditioning system is operated, the following causes are possible.

Malfunction Status Factor
Front glass frequently fogs.
·

Compressor with magnet clutch assembly malfunction

·

Lack of refrigerant gas

·

Cooler expansion valve (opened too far)



PROCEDURE

1.CHECK REFRIGERANT SHORTAGE
a.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.


b.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.


c.

Turn the GTS on.


d.

Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Utility / Refrigerant Gas Volume Check.

Check that the following conditions are met and perform the refrigerant shortage check according to the display on the GTS.

HINT:
·

Refer to the GTS operator's manual for further details.

·

A message indicating a refrigerant shortage is displayed on the GTS and the air conditioning system turns off if the amount of refrigerant in the system is insufficient.

·

DTCs are not stored when performing the refrigerant shortage check using the GTS.

·

*1: This inspection can be judged correctly only if the ambient temperature is within a range of 0 to 49°C (32 to 120°F). Therefore, postpone the test if the temperature is low.

·

*2: This inspection can be judged correctly only if the air inlet temperature is within a range of 25 to 35°C (77 to 95°F). Therefore, postpone the test if the temperature is out of range.

a.

When the MODE switch on the air conditioning control assembly operated, check that the air conditioning system changes to DEF mode according to the switch operation.

OK:

Air conditioning system changes to DEF mode.

a.

Replace the mode damper control cable sub-assembly with a new or known good one.
