AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL FRONT AXLE HUB INSTALLATION

Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
·The following procedure is for the LH side.

1.INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
Secure the steering knuckle LH between aluminum plates in a vise.
- NOTICE:
-
Do not overtighten the vise.
Install the front axle hub sub-assembly LH and front disc brake dust cover to the steering knuckle LH with the 4 bolts.
- Torque:
- 95 N*m (969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf)
- NOTICE:
- ·
Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor or contact surfaces.
·Do not allow foreign matter to contact the speed sensor rotor or contact surfaces.
2.INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY
Install the front axle assembly to the front shock absorber assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
- Torque:
- 290 N*m (2957 kgf*cm, 214 ft.*lbf)
- NOTICE:
- ·
Insert the bolt from the front of the vehicle.
·When installing the bolts, keep the nuts from rotating.
·Do not apply lubricants to the steering knuckle and shock absorber contact surfaces.

3.INSTALL FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
Install the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly (front axle assembly side) with the nut.
- Torque:
- 125 N*m (1275 kgf*cm, 92 ft.*lbf)
- NOTICE:
- ·
Do not apply lubricants to the ball joint stud taper and threads.
·Remove any foreign matter from the contact surface of the steering knuckle and front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly stud taper.
Install a new cotter pin.
- NOTICE:
-
Further tighten the nut up to 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

4.CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
5.INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
6.INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT

7.INSTALL FRONT DISC
8.CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH

9.INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

Engage the 2 hooks to install the front speed sensor clamp bracket.
- NOTICE:
-
Do not twist the front speed sensor when installing it.
Install the front speed sensor LH and front flexible hose to the front shock absorber assembly LH with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 25 N*m (255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf)
- NOTICE:
-
Do not twist the front flexible hose when installing it.
Install the front speed sensor LH to the steering knuckle LH with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)
- NOTICE:
- ·
Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the front speed sensor LH tip.
·Firmly insert the front speed sensor LH body into the steering knuckle LH before tightening the bolt.
·After installing the front speed sensor LH to the steering knuckle LH, make sure that there is no clearance between the front speed sensor LH stay and steering knuckle LH. Also make sure that no foreign matter is stuck between the parts.
·Do not twist the front speed sensor LH when installing it.
Engage the clamp.
