AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL REAR AXLE SHAFT(for Rear Drum Brake) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:: ·

Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

·

The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

Hide Display 1.REMOVE REAR WHEEL

Hide Display 2.DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

Hide Display 3.DISCONNECT BRAKE TUBE

Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the rear brake tube from the rear axle shaft with backing plate.

NOTICE:: ·

Do not kink or damage the brake line.

·

Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.

Remove the bolt and disconnect the brake tube.

Hide Display 4.REMOVE REAR BRAKE

Hide Display 46430 5.DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

Hide Display 89545 6.DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR

Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear speed sensor.

NOTICE:: ·

Keep the tip of the rear speed sensor and installation hole free of foreign matter.

·

Do not rotate or apply excessive force to the rear speed sensor when removing it from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Rotating or applying excessive force may result in damage to the rear speed sensor.

Hide Display 7.REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT WITH BACKING PLATE

Remove the 4 nuts.

Pull out the rear axle shaft with backing plate from the rear axle housing.

Hide Display 42409F 8.REMOVE REAR AXLE BEARING CASE O-RING LH

Remove the rear axle bearing case O-ring LH from the axle housing.

Hide Display 42312C 9.REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH

Using SST, tap out the rear axle shaft oil seal LH.
