REAR SUSPENSION  REAR LEAF SPRING  INSTALLATION  


CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:
·

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

·

The following procedure is for the LH side.



PROCEDURE

Hide 48341B 1.INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SPRING BUMPER

a.

Install the rear No. 1 spring bumper to the vehicle body with the 2 bolts.

Torque:
32 N*m (326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf)


Hide 48802E 2.INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR SPACER

a.

Install the rear stabilizer bar spacer to new spring shackle bush.


Hide 3.INSTALL SPRING SHACKLE BUSH

a.

Install 2 new spring shackle bushes to the vehicle body.


Hide 48442 4.TEMPORARILY INSTALL NO. 2 SPRING SHACKLE

Upper Side of the Vehicle


Temporarily install the 2 No. 2 spring shackles to the vehicle body with the bolt and nut.

NOTICE:
·

Move the spare wheel carrier assembly to a position where it does not contact the bolt. (for LH Side)

·

Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle.



HINT:

After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.



Hide 48220 5.TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY

Temporarily install the rear leaf spring assembly to the rear side with the bolt and nut.

NOTICE:
·

Move the spare wheel carrier assembly to a position where it does not contact the bolt. (for LH Side)

·

Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle.



HINT:

After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.

Temporarily install the rear leaf spring assembly to the front side with the nut, washer and bolt.

NOTICE:

Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle.


HINT:

After stabilizing the suspension, tighten the nut.

Temporarily install the rear spring U bolt seat with 2 new rear spring U bolts, 4 washers and 4 nuts.

NOTICE:

Tighten the nuts in the order shown in the illustration.



Hide 46430 8.CONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

a.

Connect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly with the bolt.

Torque:
14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)


Hide 48442 10.TIGHTEN NO. 2 SPRING SHACKLE

a.

Tighten the nut.

Torque:
110 N*m (1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf)


Hide 48220 11.TIGHTEN REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY

for Front Side:

i.

Using a ball joint lock nut wrench, tighten the nut.

Torque:
Specified tightening torque : 200 N*m (2039 kgf*cm, 148 ft.*lbf)

HINT:
·

Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

When using a ball joint lock nut wrench (fulcrum length of 150 mm (5.906 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 600 mm (23.622 in.)):

160 N*m (1632 kgf*cm, 118 ft.*lbf)





b.

for Rear Side:

i.

Tighten the nut.

Torque:
110 N*m (1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf)

Tighten the 4 nuts.

Torque:
115 N*m (1173 kgf*cm, 85 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE:

Tighten the nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

The amount of tightening for each of the 4 nuts must be the same.
