MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The ECM constantly monitors the output voltages from the No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensors in order to detect problems with the sensors.

No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor range check (low voltage) (P203111):

If the output voltage of the No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor remains below 0.09 V for 3 seconds or more during engine operation, the ECM illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.



No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor range check (high voltage) (P203115):

If the estimated GPF downstream exhaust gas temperature is 100°C or more during engine operation and the output voltage of the No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor remains at more than 4.95 V for 3 seconds or more, the ECM illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.

Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

2.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

3.

Turn the GTS on.

4.

Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

5.

Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

6.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.

7.

Turn the GTS on.

9.

Start the engine [A].

10.

Idle the engine for 3 seconds or more [B].

11.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [C].

Read the pending DTCs.

If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / GPF Outlet Exhaust Temperature Sensor Disconnection Detection Possible Temperature Arrival Bank 1.

12.

Check that the value of the Data List item "GPF Outlet Exhaust Temperature Sensor Disconnection Detection Possible Temperature Arrival Bank 1" has changed to "1" [C].

HINT:

If the value of the Data List item "GPF Outlet Exhaust Temperature Sensor Disconnection Detection Possible Temperature Arrival Bank 1" is "0", race the engine at 2500 rpm until the value changes to "1".


13.

Idle the engine for 10 seconds or more [D].

14.

Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes [E].

15.

Read the pending DTCs.
