SEAT BELT  SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM(for GTMC Made)  OPERATION CHECK  


INSPECT DRIVER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


HINT:

The seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is used for both the driver seat and front passenger seat.


a.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.


b.

When the driver seat belt is not fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly illuminates.



d.

Start the hybrid control system. (for HV Model)

Start the engine. (for Gasoline Model)


e.

When the driver seat belt is not fastened, the parking brake is released and the vehicle is driven at approximately 1.75 km/h (1 mph) or more, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds.


f.

When the driver seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or more, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 24 seconds.

After that, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 100 seconds and then illuminates.


g.

When the driver seat belt is fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly turns off.



INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


HINT:

The seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is used for both the driver seat and front passenger seat.


a.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.


b.

Place a weight of 20 kg (44.0 lb) on the front passenger seat.

NOTICE:

Place the weight on the seat cushion and do not allow it to come into contact with the seatback.



c.

Fasten the driver seat belt.


d.

When the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly illuminates.



f.

Start the hybrid control system. (for HV Model)

Start the engine. (for Gasoline Model)


g.

When the front passenger seat belt is not fastened, the parking brake is released and the vehicle is driven at approximately 1.75 km/h (1 mph) or more, check that seat belt warning light on the combination meter blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds.


h.

When the front passenger seat is occupied, the front passenger seat belt is not fastened and the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or more, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 24 seconds.

After that, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly blinks at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 100 seconds and then illuminates.


i.

When the front passenger seat belt is fastened, check that the seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly turns off.



INSPECT REAR SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT


HINT:
·

Perform the following inspection for each rear seat.

·

When checking the rear seat belt warning light (in the combination meter assembly) is off, be sure to all doors are closed.

Check the state of the rear seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly:

i.

Turn the ignition switch off.


ii.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.


iii.

When a rear seat belt is not fastened, check that the rear seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is illuminated


iv.

After 66 seconds, check that the rear seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly turns off.


v.

When one of the rear seat belts is unfastened from being fastened, check that the rear seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly illuminates.




INSPECT DRIVER SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER



b.

Start the hybrid control system. (for HV Model)

Start the engine. (for Gasoline Model)


c.

Check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) sounds intermittently at 1.2-second intervals for 24 seconds when the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher with the seat belt unfastened.


d.

After the buzzer has sounded intermittently at 1.2-second intervals for 24 seconds, check that the interval changes and the buzzer sounds intermittently at 0.4-second intervals for 100 seconds.


e.

When 124 seconds have passed after the buzzer started sounding intermittently, check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops.


f.

After the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops, check that the buzzer once again sounds intermittently when the seat belt is fastened and then unfastened again, and then the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher.


g.

Check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops when the shift position is changed to R while the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) is sounding.

Check that the buzzer once again sounds intermittently when the shift position is changed to D again and the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher with the seat belt unfastened.



INSPECT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

Fasten the driver seat belt.


c.

Start the hybrid control system. (for HV Model)

Start the engine. (for Gasoline Model)


d.

Place a load of 20 kg (44.1 lb) on the passenger seat.

NOTICE:

When placing the load on the passenger seat, do not let it touch the seatback.



e.

Check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) sounds intermittently at 1.2-second intervals for 24 seconds when the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher with the seat belt unfastened.


f.

After the buzzer has sounded intermittently at 1.2-second intervals for 24 seconds, check that the interval changes and the buzzer sounds intermittently at 0.4-second intervals for 100 seconds.


g.

When 124 seconds have passed after the buzzer started sounding intermittently, check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops.


h.

After the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops, check that the buzzer once again sounds intermittently when the seat belt is fastened and then unfastened again, and then the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher.


i.

Check that the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) stops when the shift position is changed to R while the seat belt warning buzzer (in the combination meter assembly) is sounding.

Check that the buzzer once again sounds intermittently when the shift position is changed to D again and the vehicle is driven at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or higher with the seat belt unfastened.



INSPECT REAR SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER

Fasten the driver seat belt.


c.

Start the hybrid control system. (for HV Model)

Start the engine. (for Gasoline Model)


d.

Fasten and unfasten a rear seat belt then drive the vehicle at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or more and check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds once.


e.

When have passed after the buzzer sounded, check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at an interval of 1.2 seconds for 6 seconds.


f.

After the seat belt warning buzzer has been sounding for 6 seconds at an interval of 1.2 seconds, check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly sounds at an interval of 0.4 seconds for 60 seconds.


g.

Check that the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly stops 66 seconds after it started sounding at an interval of 1.2 seconds.


h.

After the seat belt warning buzzer in the combination meter assembly stops, turn the ignition switch off, open and close either rear door and then start the engine.

Drive the vehicle at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) or more with any of the rear seat belts is not fastened and check that the buzzer sounds in the same pattern again.
