TELEMATICS SYSTEM OUTLINE
The telematics system is a telematics service that links the vehicle and TOYOTA Connect network (provides information from the TOYOTA Connect Center or content providers).
In order for the user to use the TOYOTA Connect service, it is necessary to create a contract at the dealer and register the vehicle and user information.

Telephone Microphone Assembly LH |
·
When an emergency call is not being made: Sends the microphone voice signal to the radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation receiver assembly*2. ·
When an emergency call is made: Sends the microphone voice signal to the telematics transceiver. |
||
| Navigation Antenna Assembly | ·
Sends and receives the data and voice signals used for the TOYOTA Connect via a communication network. ·
Receives GPS radio waves and sends them to the telematics transceiver. |

| Telematics Transceiver | ·
Uses the navigation antenna assembly to send and receive the data and voice signals used for the TOYOTA Connect via a communication network. -
When an emergency call is made: Sends the received voice signal to the vehicle speaker. -
When an emergency call is made: Receives the sent voice signal from the telephone microphone assembly. -
When an emergency call is made: Sends a mute signal to the radio and display receiver assembly*1 or navigation receiver assembly*2. (Mute function becomes active during the call.) -
When an emergency call is made: Sends vehicle location information to the TOYOTA Connect Center. -
When the theft deterrent system is activated, the telematics transceiver sends information that the security horn has sounded to the TOYOTA Connect Center. -
Sends vehicle location information to the navigation receiver assembly*2 or radio and display receiver assembly*1 . -
Receives remote operation signals from the service center. |
||
| Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly | ·
Operates the air conditioning system, based on signals from the telephone transceiver assembly. ·
Sends ambient temperature signals to the telephone transceiver assembly. |
||
| Mobilephone battery (Back-up Battery) | ·
When a manual emergency call is made, the mobilephone battery is not used as the power source. ·
The mobilephone battery conducts a self-diagnosis every time the ignition switch is turned to ON, and after manual emergency call is made, and the result is sent to the telematics transceiver. |
||
| Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) | Sends a security horn sounding signal to the telematics transceiver when the theft deterrent system is activated. | ||
| Navigation Receiver Assembly*1
Radio and Display Receiver Assembly*2 |
Sends and receives the data used for the TOYOTA Connect to and from the telematics transceiver using a telematics data signal.
·
When the operator service is used: Sends the sent voice signal from the telephone microphone assembly to the telematics transceiver. ·
When the operator service is used: Sends the received voice signal from the telematics transceiver to the vehicle speaker. |
||
| Airbag ECU Assembly | Sends an activation signal to the telematics transceiver when airbags deploy. (An automatic emergency call is made.) | ||

DEVICE USED FOR TELEMATICS SYSTEM COMMUNICATION
The telematics transceiver is used for data communication or emergency call service telephone calls and operator service telephone calls.
The hands-free function does not use the telematics transceiver. A user's "Bluetooth" compatible cellular phone needs to be used.
Perform the following procedure if the device used for telematics system communication is replaced.
If the telematics transceiver is replaced on vehicles that do not have a contract for the TOYOTA Connect, perform vehicle contract setting.
If the telematics transceiver is replaced on vehicles that have a contract for the TOYOTA Connect, perform the vehicle contract setting and the procedure to resume the TOYOTA Connect to start the emergency call service.
TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER OUTLINE
On this model, the telematics transceiver functions as the TOYOTA Connect device.
The telematics transceiver has a serial number (IMEI) which can be used to determine the individual device when servicing.
The IMEI are printed on the label attached to the telematics transceiver.
TOYOTA CONNECT SUPPORT CENTER OUTLINE
The TOYOTA Connect support center provides members with opportunities to ask questions and information necessary for troubleshooting.
| Main Service | Outline |
|---|---|
| Answering questions about the TOYOTA Connect | Answers questions from customers about the TOYOTA Connect |
| Contracting or canceling the TOYOTA Connect | Performs procedures to make or cancel a contract for customers |
| Confirming server or communication conditions | Confirms the TOYOTA Connect Center condition |
| Re-registering a TOYOTA Connect device | Performs procedures for re-registration when the TOYOTA Connect device is replaced |
| Answering questions about a manual maintenance check for the emergency call service | Answers questions when a manual maintenance check for the emergency call service has not completed normally |
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
USB Outline
Telematics system components communicate with each other via USB communication.
If a short or open occurs in a USB communication line, communication will be interrupted and the system will not operate normally.
CAN Communication Outline
The telematics system uses CAN communication between the telematics transceiver and ECUs.
COMMUNICATION BASED VOICE RECOGNITION FUNCTION
There are two types of voice recognition; the voice recognition function uses voice recognition data stored in the onboard device. The other is communication based and uses voice recognition data sent from communication with the telematics transceiver as audio signals to be stored at the center.
w/ Navigation System
Refer to the navigation system for information about voice recognition.
w/o Navigation System
Refer to the audio and visual system for information about voice recognition.
Communication Based Voice Recognition
By performing the voice recognition process at the center, natural language input and interactive voice operations besides the specified commands can be performed.
REMOTE AIR CONDITIONING FUNCTION OUTLINE
Allows the user to start the air conditioning system and keep it running for a certain amount of time from a remote location via a smartphone.
If the vehicle cannot receive the remote air conditioning start signal due to the condition of the vehicle (such as if the telematics transceiver is outside of the cellular telephone reception area), the air conditioning system will not be started remotely.
The air conditioning system may be operated by signals from the service center depending on the ambient temperature.
REMOTE PLUG-IN CHARGE CONTROL FUNCTION OUTLINE
Allows the user to start and stop the plug-in charge control from a remote location via a smartphone.
If the vehicle cannot receive the remote plug-in charge control operate signal due to the condition of the vehicle (such as if the telephone transceiver assembly is outside of the cellular telephone reception area), the plug-in charge control system will not be operated remotely.
