TMH Made and TMCAP Made components can be identified by the location where the serial number is stamped.

a.
C287247

Using a dial indicator, measure the input shaft end play.

End Play:
for TMH Made:

0.264 to 1.175 mm (0.01039 to 0.04626 in.)

for TMCAP Made:

0.265 to 1.190 mm (0.01043 to 0.04685 in.)

Hide 35633H 2.INSPECT FORWARD MULTIPLE DISC CLUTCH CLUTCH DISC

a.
C305440

Check if the contact surfaces of the forward multiple disc clutch clutch discs, forward multiple disc clutch clutch plates and forward clutch flange are worn or burnt.

If necessary, replace them.

NOTICE:
·

If the lining of any disc is peeled off or discolored, or even if part of the groove is damaged, replace all discs.

·

Before installing new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine CVT fluid FE for at least 15 minutes.

Hide 35633H 3.INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FORWARD MULTIPLE DISC CLUTCH CLUTCH DISC

a.
C285167

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the snap ring and the forward clutch flange.

Standard Clearance:

0.6 to 1.0 mm (0.0236 to 0.0394 in.)

If the clearance is not as specified, select an appropriate forward clutch flange so that the clearance will be within the specified range.

HINT:

There are 3 forward clutch flanges of different thicknesses.

Forward Clutch Flange Thickness:
Mark Thickness
3 3.2 mm (0.126 in.)
4 3.4 mm (0.134 in.)
5 3.6 mm (0.142 in.)

Hide 35681B 4.INSPECT NO. 1 BRAKE DISC

a.
C401984

Check if the contact surfaces of the No. 1 brake discs, No. 1 brake plates and brake flange are worn or burnt.

If necessary, replace them.

NOTICE:
·

If the lining of any disc is peeled off or discolored, or even if part of the groove is damaged, replace all discs.

·

Before installing new discs, soak them in Toyota Genuine CVT fluid FE for at least 15 minutes.

Hide 35681B 5.INSPECT CLEARANCE OF NO. 1 BRAKE DISC

a.
C286672

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the snap ring and the brake flange.

Standard Clearance:

1.75 to 2.39 mm (0.0689 to 0.0941 in.)

If the clearance is more than specified, replace the No. 1 brake discs, No. 1 brake plates and brake flange.

Hide 35720M 6.INSPECT PLANETARY GEAR ASSEMBLY

a.
C287245

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the planetary carrier and the pinion gears at 6 points.

Standard Clearance:

0.20 to 0.55 mm (0.00787 to 0.0217 in.)

If the clearance is more than specified, replace the planetary gear assembly.

Hide 35603E 7.INSPECT FORWARD CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

a.
C305441

Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the forward clutch return spring sub-assembly together with the spring seat.

Standard Free Length:

17.63 mm (0.694 in.)

If the free length is less than the standard free length, replace the forward clutch return spring sub-assembly.

Hide 35068E 8.INSPECT 1ST AND REVERSE BRAKE RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

a.
C305442

Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the 1st and reverse brake return spring sub-assembly together with the spring seat.

Standard Free Length:

16.44 mm (0.647 in.)

If the free length is less than the standard free length, replace the 1st and reverse brake return spring sub-assembly.
