REAR SUSPENSION  REAR LEAF SPRING  DISASSEMBLY  


PROCEDURE

Hide 48375 1.REMOVE LEAF SPRING DYNAMIC DAMPER (except Van Standard Roof, w/ Dynamic Damper)

Remove the rear spring clip set hexagon bolt, nut and leaf spring dynamic damper.


Hide 48246 2.REMOVE REAR SPRING CLIP BOLT CASE (except Van Standard Roof, w/ Clip Bolt Case)

Remove the rear spring clip set hexagon bolt, nut and rear spring clip bolt case.


Hide 48220 3.DISASSEMBLE REAR LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY

Secure the rear leaf spring assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.


b.

Using a brass bar and hammer, pry open the spring clip of the rear leaf spring.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the leaf spring.

Remove the nut, rear spring center bolt and 2 rear No. 1 spring spacers .

a.

Remove the 4 rear No. 1 spring spacers from the rear No. 2 leaf spring.


b.

Remove the 2 rear No. 1 spring spacers from the rear No. 2 leaf spring.


c.

Remove the 4 rear No. 1 spring spacers from the rear No. 3 leaf spring.


Hide 48252 5.REMOVE REAR SPRING SILENCER (for Van Standard Roof)

Remove the 2 nuts and 2 rear spring silencers from the rear No. 3 leaf spring.


Hide 48252F 6.REMOVE REAR NO. 3 SPRING SILENCER (except Van Standard Roof)

a.

Remove the 2 rear No. 3 spring silencers from the rear No. 2 leaf spring.


b.

Remove the 4 rear No. 3 spring silencers from the rear No. 2 leaf spring.


c.

Remove the 2 rear No. 3 spring silencers from the rear No. 3 leaf spring.


d.

Remove the 4 rear No. 3 spring silencers from the rear No. 3 leaf spring.

Align the No. 2 leaf spring with the protrusions of the No. 3 leaf spring bush and place matchmarks on the No. 2 leaf spring as shown in the illustration.


b.

Using SST and a press, remove the No. 3 leaf spring bush.
