PARKING BRAKE  PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY(for Rear Disc Brake)  DISASSEMBLY  

Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

NOTICE:

·

Do not disconnect the flexible hose from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

·

Do not twist or bend the flexible hose.

Remove the 2 parking brake shoe return tension springs.

NOTICE:

Be sure to put an identification mark on each parking brake shoe return tension spring so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

Remove the 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cups and parking brake shoe hold down spring to disconnect the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly LH from the backing plate.

Pull in this Direction

Pull the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly LH towards the front of the vehicle by hand as shown in the illustration.

Remove the parking brake shoe strut LH.

Remove the parking brake shoe strut compression spring.

Remove the 2 parking brake shoe hold down spring cups and parking brake shoe hold down spring to disconnect the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH from the backing plate.

Expand in this Direction

Pull the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly LH and No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH open by hand, and then pull them downward off the vehicle.

Remove the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.

Disconnect the parking brake shoe return tension spring to remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly LH.

Remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring from the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH.

Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake shoe lever as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

Remove in this Direction

Remove the C-washer, shim and parking brake shoe lever LH from the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly LH as shown in the illustration.
